Hello my name is chris. I used to be installer at circuit city, but that was like 9 yrs ago so much knowledge has been lost or forgot. I have installed a full alpine system in my roomates car. having a issue finding a safe drilling spot for the 4 ga power wire through the firewall. I am also seeing the his cars ignition wire behind radio for the turn on, is non exsistant. so im assuming I need to get that from the ignition switch on sterring console? Thanks for your help, sorry if these are dumb question but its been a while just trying to get back into this.

yes you need to run a wire from ignition harness best to use GREEN/ GRAY wire

as far as running your power wire it best to choose a factory grommet on the same side of the car the battery is. Much care should be given when drilling through the fire wall and dont forget the grommet to prevent chaffing of the power wire.

if his car is automatic the drill thru where the factory clutch would have been. if he has a manual tranny then drill below the clutch about 3" from the inside of car. Alway check clearances on both sides as to prevent drilling into equipment, lines, or hose. Recommend drilling small diameter pilot hole first and run a piece of 22g primary wire thru to check clearences. you may have to remove or cut back insulation.

Hey thanks so much for the timely response.

All the diagrams are saying use black wire at ignition or yellow with grey stripe

If the one u suggested for this car is better i will try it .

I am also having to connect the brake and e brake wires too for his alpine IXA 407 so he can have adjustable settings. and they say to get those connections at their individual switches.

This is all slowly coming back to me, but the help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

One web site mention going thru the hood release cable gromet for the power wire, but i wonder if the 4 ga will be to big for it.

Chris
