buzz noise

Hey Guys,

Wondering if anyone can help me. Recently installed a system on an E90 BMW. After all that was done, there we 2 types of noise. There was an alternator whine and a buzzing sound when the park light were turned on. I was able to get rid of the alt whine one the right tweeter by rerouting the wires(this was an active setup). The buzzing sound however is still there. Without lights turned on, the system was quiet. Any thoughts on this? The amps were grounded directly to the battery at the back. Could that be the cause? Just a hunch.

Does the pitch of the noise change when you adjust the brightness of your dash lights?

Do you have aftermarket HID headlights?

The noise is there with parking lights.  If the noise changes pitch with the dimming of the dash lights, it is the same as the noise generated by the HID lamps.  There is a pwm power supply to regulate the voltage of the dash lamps.  I had this problem in an 85 Honda CRX, I tried everything to get rid of the noise, never did get rid of the noise.  It was less noticeable with the dash lights at full brightness.

Thanks for the replies guys. The pitch of the noise doesnt change when I havent tried that yet. But yes it does have an aftermarket HID kit. Any more suggestions would be great.

Sorry IAAI...What I meant to say was the pitch of the noise does not change when I dim the dash lights. :)

Disconnect the ballast for you HIDs to see if it makes a difference (do not disconnect the bulbs).
