I will be starting the install of my new sound system on my side x side. I will have a fiberglass box built which will house six 8" Memphis audio marine speakers. They are not subs, the are a two way speakerwith inline crossover i believe. The wattage rating is 60 RMS and 120 Peak. The amp I was told will work on these is a Sony XM-4S. Bridged into 4 OHM, it is 250 watts x 1. So would i wire this set-up from the bridged positive on the amp to the positive on all speakers,a dn the same on the negative side? If so, is the bridge rating supposed to be no greater than the peak rating of the speaker? Am i understanding this right, or do i have it all wrong? I am new to the audio side of cars and have always been interested to understand it. Thanks in advance for aany info.

Use 4 speakers rather than 6 and put one on each channel of the amp.  You didn't say what each speaker's impedance is, so this assumption is that they are each rated 4 ohm.  The power match works like this:  each channel of the four-channel amplifier puts out 50 watts.  Each speaker is rated for 60 watts.  That's a suitable match.

Stick with the 4 ohm impedance on the amp and don't try putting too many speakers on it.  That's why you should use just 4 speakers with the one amplifier.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Ok, thanks. I tried to find out the OHM rating on the speakers, and couldn't. I had a buddy with the exact same set-up, but not sure how it was wired. That thing rocked. Thanks for the info.
