Has anyone ever heard of painting the cone of your sub to match the interior of your car? I like the look of the MTX shallow mount subs but wish the came in different colors beside black. I don't want to cover them with grills or grill cloth. Was wondering if you could maybe airbrush the cone? Would that disturb the performance of the sub?  Yes I am  newbie here and probally going to take a ton of crap but still had to ask.

and so I dont get any flak,,,,My car is a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda, white with red interior. JVC head unit, Memphis Coaxials. Either going with Memphis S-class 12's or the MTX shallow mounts. Most likely going to run a Memphis ''Baby Belle'' along with another Memphis amp for the doors and deck. Hope that helps.

Airbrushing the cone should not cause any problems.  With a trunk of that size, why are you going to use a shallow sub?  A shallow sub should be used only where there is no room for a conventional sub.

I recommend NOT painting a paper or polymer cone as the paint could destroy the cone material, but if it's metal you could try it.  Any paint you add will change the mass of the cone and will alter the performance, so beware of that.
