fuse on amp not at battery

whats the fuse on the amp for? does the same thing as the fuse in the power wire at the battery?

The fuse at the amp is to try and protect the amp itself from over current situations.  It is NOT a replacement for the fuse at the battery which protects the power wire and the car.
