I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sport which i bought used in 2003. I've had it for 7 years now and now i feel really dumb because i just found out that it has a factory subwoofer and amp, which by the way is hidden pretty dam good under the center console lol. I took out the console and removed the whole enclosure with the sub and amp built in. When i got it out i saw that the sub is destroyed. The foam around it is pretty much rotted away. Which sucks but i can get another speaker. When i bought the jeep it already had an aftermarket pioneer deck in it. I took it out and put another deck in that i had laying around which was better. There was already a factory harness adapter in there from the pioneer deck so i just cut the adapter harness wires and soldered them to my other deck's harness wires. I have never heard the subwoofer playing or making any bit of noise (obviously because i didn't know there was one).  Even with the foam destroyed around the sub it should still have made some sort of noise if it was actually working. I dont know if the amp works or if it burned up or what. But i checked the fuse in the glove box for the subwoofer system and put tester on it so i know there is power to it and the fuse isnt blown.

So how would i go about testing the amp and sub just to see if i get some sort of noise out of it?

It seems that the sub wiring would go from the connecter in the console all the way up to the factory harness behind the dash and is wired into it along with the stereo and speakers. I dont remember seeing 2 harnesses behind the dash when i put the deck in, but i'll pull it out just to make sure.

Now there are six wires coming from the amp that are all connected into one harness. I need to know what wires do what. The colors of the six wires are, white, green, purple, yellow, orange, and blue. There is also a black, red, gray, and brown wire coming from the amp but i know those go to the sub obviously because they were connected to the sub terminals. I've tried finding a diagram of the factory sub system but haven't had any luck.

Id appreciate it if anyone has ANY info on how i could see if the sub system even works period or if the amp is blown along with the speaker??  Does anyone know what those 6 different color wires coming out of the amp are for?? or what they are supposed to be hooked up to??  Like is said before, i think the wires are going into the factory harness behind the dash but im gonna double check to see if there wasnt two seperate harnesses. Would it be easier to just cut the harness off the sub system and wire those 6 to the deck wires?

Any idea's would help a lot....thanks

just keep in mind that all amplifiers need 12v+ 12v- remote on,   you also need input left + right + and left, right negative      find the three primary wires and the others would be inputs
