in my 1993 i already have a 10 guage power wire ran through the fire wall in a pre-exsisting hole through which factory wires are ran, and today i tried running an 8 guage wire through the same hole and im not having any luck getting it through i put a clothes hanger through and taped the wire to it, but when i tried to really pull it through the wire would just slide off. so how am i supposed to get this other power wire through there? any help please! and by the way the previous wire was ran by someone for me, thats why i am asking becuase i did not do it before. but any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

You need to make sure that there is enough room in the grommet to allow another wire through it. You may need to cut some small slits in the grommet to allow the cable to go through. Tape the cable to the fish wire very tight and at least 8 inches long. You can spray a little lubricant like WD40 on the taped section of wire to help it get started through the hole.

Is it safe to use it on wire insulation?

It won't hurt it at all. It is designed to repell water from electrical circuits. You won't need much, just a quick spray.

ok so what if i got something thin like you said such as fishing line through using the coat hanger then taped the wire to the fish line and put wd 40 on the tape, it should pull through nicely?

also, sorry for posting twice, but is it possible to remove the grommet, then put it back in?

are you talking about the main wire harness that's going through the firewall? is that what you are trying to run your wire through? you could be getting hung up on the factory wires themselves. if you look around do you see any other possible places to run the wire through? regular dish soap works just as good as WD-40. if you cut into the gromet be careful not to cut the factory wires and make sure your wire hanger isnt sharp on the end because you can easily poke through a wire and short it out
