I have a 1997 ford explorer XLT 4dr 4wd truck and installed an amp, sub, and new HU. Everything works great expect saving. When I turn off the engine, the HU resets to demo. So basically I have to take it out of demo mode and readjust the settings everytime I get in.
Not sure what info you need to help me but I will post what ever is asked to check.
Here is what I have
97 explorer radio model number F57f-19B165-CG
New HU is https://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=CDXGT54UIW&LOC=3 Sony exlod deck.
I am using the wires directly from the explorer to the sony HU wire harness that came in its box. I tried 2 kits METRA and some other walmart brand one and neither of them seemed to work. Hooking this up the way I have it everything works just fine except the memory. The explorer it self has a memory wire that is currently unused but not sure if that would save the new HU memory anyway.
Please help in any way possible!
The yellow wire of the radio is connected to a switched power source. It should be connected to a constant power source.
Connect the radios yellow wire to the memory wire of the vehicle.
Radios yellow wire to the vehicles memory wire.
I looked art the wiring chart here on this site. I do not have those colors from the truck.

That seems to be correct 4th one down, and its hooked up right now according to that. If need be I can post a picture of my current wiring.
I just went oout and looked.
I have red and yellow from radio hooked into yellow/black from truck. Also the green and purple or green and violet is connected to that.
GREEN/ violet should be a 12V+ constant, and your yellow wire connects to that. Yellow/black should be your switched power and the red from your radio should connect there. TEST the wires before you blindly hook them up, and check all fuses if you aren't getting power on the GREEN/ violet wire...

...half of the truth can be worse than a lie. <----Roger Russell said that..
All wires were tested, I didn't blindly hook them up.
I did not test the fuse for the truck, only the one in the deck.
I hooked up the yellow to the GREEN/ violet and the red to the yellow black with no power at all to the deck. The only way its getting power right now is yellow and red from deck connected to yellow/black from truck.
Fixed! After relooking at everything I notice there was a "10" in where the radio fuse was. It says in a chart its supposed to be 15, I put a 15 in and we're in business!
