Hello all, I am installing an after market deck in a 2008 Chevy 3500HD Deisel and could use the audio wiring information if anyone has it - could not find in the forums or vehicle database.
Thanks,
Gary
Have you already hacked the factory plug out of the truck? If not please do not do that. Your truck requires a costly wiring harness in order to swap the radio and retain your door chimes and also retain the Retained Accessory Power. RAP is the feature that allows the radio to remain powered up until you open a door. If you do not care about the chimes or the RAP, there is a 20 dollar harness that is available for your vehicle. The costly harness could cost up to aroung 200 dollars, depending on whether or not the truck has OnStar and/or Bose stereo system. Please go to your local stereo shop and explore your options.
Thanks for your reply, and no I have not "hacked" anything yet. The owner has already purchased the necessary harnesses, adapters, interface devices. The owner had me install an aftermarket amp so I wanted the speaker wiring colors so I can run them directly to the amp.
Thanks,
Gary
I would hope that he bought a radio that has Preamp outputs on it so you can connect the amp to the RCA jacks of the new radio. If it does not have RCA jacks, the wire colors of the new radio should be as follows: Front Left = White Front Right = Grey. Rear left = Green Rear Right = violet. Solid color wires are positive. The ones with the black stripe = negative.
Thanks for your reply, I should have been more clear. I have already run the rca's to the amp. The owner wanted to keep the existing speaker wiring so I am routing the speaker wires from the amp to the pigtail near the head unit.
Gary
The harness he purchased should have the same exact colors I listed earlier.
