I have an MTX 6001 Mono Block class D amp. It says it's 600 watts RMS @ 2 OHMS. For subs, I have 2 Pioneer 10'' subs. The specs on the subs are: 800w max. 350w nominal power. Sensitivity 87db/W (1m).

Now I think it sounds pretty good. I have the subs bridged and they pound pretty good. Obviously some songs better than others. I would like to "tweek" it as much as possible, but I'm very new when it comes down to stereos. Are there any "usual" tricks that people use?

I've reviewed the setting your gains section, and will adjust per instructions.

Other than setting the max gain on the amplifier, the tweaking is done by ear. Whatever sounds best to " you".

You do not have the subs bridged.

You described having a class D (mono, one channel) ampliifier. You have two subs, but you didn't describe what they are...single coil, dual coil, and what is the impedance per coil?

You may have the subs parallelled, but you don't have them bridged. Bridging is done when you are using a two-channel amp and combining the channels (bridgeable amps only...most are). Speakers are connected to each other either in parallel or series. With a mono amp, the combined speakers are simply connected to the lone channel. Look to the information on this site (to the left) and let the forum know the specs of the subs and how they are connected to the amp. We'll be able to help better.

Here is what I have:

MTX 6001 Class D amplifier, pushing 2 Pioneer TS-W256C's. Here is what I could find on specs for each:

AMP: RMS per channel @4 OHMS (<1% THD + N) 300 watts
@ 2 ohms 600 watts

signal to noise ratio: 75dba
frequency response: 20hz-200hz (-3db)
Maximum Input signal: 5v
Maximum Sensitivity: 100mv
THD + N: <.25% reference 1w output

Subs:

Single voice coil
800w max
350 Nominal
Impedance 4 ohm
Sensitivity: 87db/w (1m)
Frequency response: 18-600HZ

Any suggestions as to the best way to hookin' up this equipment?
