Hello all,
First off I have searched all day trying to find a factual answer to my questions, as well as a resource/person with reasonable knowledge to help me out. This forum looks very promising and this is my very first post!
Second, I did conduct a search and though I found posts similar to mine, I did not find this exactly. If i'm wrong, please somebody, feel free to point me in that direction.
Ok, now to the question. So I have 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch P3's (4 ohm) sitting in a nice bassworx enclosure. They sound awesome in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, however, I was wondering what the process would be in hooking these bad boys up to a DJ/PA amp similiar to this Crown Amp - https://www.amazon.com/Crown-Two-channel-Power-Amplifier-channel/dp/B000FLYMBM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1284426621&sr=8-1 . Now, I am fairly confident that I can get the impedances to match but my question is this: When hooking my subs up to this amp how would i make it so the subs only receive the low frequencies and not all of them?
I hope i'm asking the right questions. Again, feel free to correct me.
Thanks again in advance!
Ok wow, I don't know what I was trying to type when I typed the title of this post.
It is supposed to be: Using Rock/Fos Punch P3’s with PA/DJ Amp
Sorry for that
You will need an active crossover network. The crossover will send the bass information to that amp, and then it will send the rest of the music to whatever amp you have running the other speakers in the setup.
Using a commercial amp, will probably work better with a commercial crossover. Rane, Carvin, Crown, Crest, and Peavey come to mind.
