I have a Pioneer head unit (DEH-P980BT) installed in my 2004 Dodge RAM pick up. As a result, I lost the ability to use the steering wheel mounted controls for volume, source, station tuning, etc. Does anyone know if I can hack into the wiring from the steering wheel controls and have them function as the buttons for a Pioneer steering wheel mount like the CD-SR11? I haven't been able to find anyone with an aftermarket fix for this issue so I'm asking here to see if anyone has had experience/success in attempting this mod.

hi,
did you look into a pac-audio swi-ps or axxess interface (metra) aswc?
your radio has a jack on the rear of the chassis for a steering wheel control input.

I agree, if it has a remote jack on the back of the unit an SWI-PS would work. If it doesn't you should be able to use the SWI-X.

Thanks! It looks as though a SWI-PS is the ticket I need. Pricing here in Canada sucks, may go through Crutchfield or something out of the US...Less than 1/2 price WITH exchange and duty! No brainer!
