Ok, so Im not sure if Im wording this right.

In need of a single din deck(no screen), but can have an add-on screen that would function like a double din screen.

Meaning the add-on screen would show function, song, etc, everything that would show up on a double dins screen.

Im looking to redo my center bezel too look like this:

Is this do-able?

What will I need as far as equipment?

Recommendations on equipment?

Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

you can get a single din with a small screen( no flip out) and hook an external screen up to it. a few companies make one nowadays, JVC, Clarion, and soundstream to name a few. personally i would avoid the soundstream but depending on what your budget is it might be the only route because the clarion is high and the jvc is even higher. I bought the JVC and the price was pretty steep even at wholesale but it is a very good unit, probably the best of its kind right now. and keep in mind that your external screen wont do anything except display, if you want it to control your radio with a touchscreen then that's a whole different beast all together.

thankfully there is alot of room in the dash of the ram. do keep us posted with your progress including pictures. if you havent already figured it out the wiring for the hvac controls can be moved around with quite a bit of ease in the dash. you may want to snake them back around and come up from underneath towards the ash tray area for ease of future removal of the dash. this will also keep it out of the way of your stereo wiring.

Kenwood makes a two piece, seperate touch screen and hide away brain box that you can feed an outside source to (dvd)

If you're going to be modifying your dash anyways, why are you planning on doing a two-part setup? Why not just go with a double-din screen and be done with it?

Just trying to follow your logic... that's all. :-)

^^^^^^^

I can fit a 10"-12" screen in the dashand would like to do so.

Not looking for touch screen capabilities, but would like the screen to show functions and activities of the deck.

Makes sense... Have you considered installed an iPad into the dash? It makes a statement and gives you a lot of cool features. I know it's not QUITE what you were going for, but just throwing an idea out there.

There's plenty of YouTube videos of iPad installs in dashes. SoundMan has done some of my favorites though.
