Ok so quick question, I just picked up 2 Punch Amps new without the case and I am thinking of getting some aluminum for the heatsinks and mdf and plexiglass the top with a push pull fan for cooling also. Has anyone else tried or done anything like this before that can give me a bit of guidance in the right direction here? OBTW these are going to be for front and rear components then if all goes well might get 2 more and make 1 per door bridged :)

Ok so a little more info is needed, this is going into a 06 Suzuki Aerio SX, I already have a JVC 3.5inch DVD in dash powering 4 polk db 6.5's and a Kicker KX 650.4 bridged feeding a RE SE 10" sub in custom fiberglass box tucked neatly into the back. Also just picked up an Audio Control BLD-4 to clean things up a bit.

What are you calling a case? Do you have just the circuit board?

Fleabay links do not work here. But by looking at the picture, I really think you are asking for a ton of trouble. If it were a flat amp that required a flat sink, that would be a different story. The bottom of the amp board has to be stable as well as the 3 sides that hold the transistors down.

I have a machine shop kinda at my disposal :) so the plan is to make some sort of standoffs to raise the amps off of a sheet of MDF for the bottom then measure the angle of the transistors and cut some wedges and mount some aluminum to them for the heatsinks then plexiglass over them and have a push pull fan to assist in the cooling. Just not exactly sure what aluminum I'm going to use and would like to polish it for looks of course :)

If you do put fans, do not worry about the fans blowing on the components mounted to the circuit board. All heat is produced by the transistors that will be mounted on your wedges. All of the transistors need to be mounted to a heat sink of some sort. If you have 2 fans, the output transistors are the ones that need to be kept cool. The numbers stamped on those transistors are 28N15 and 36P15.

If you can not read the numbers on them, they are the 2 lone transistors on the pad on the left of the picture. The other 2 are the larger ones on the row at the top of the picture.

Make sure you purchase some Heat Sink Compound. Apply generously to the back of the plates that the transistors are soldered to. The purpose of the compound is to give a smooth surface for transferring heat form the transistors to the heat sink.

Ok so I got the amps in and they look amazing,but had a smell about them so not really sure what it is but im going to try and hook them up with some old 6.5's in the basement to make sure they work. The best thing about them is they came packaged in the little white plastic that i may use as a mold for the case :) I went to Lowes yesterday to get the MDF that I'm going to use for the base and they closed the doors on my face at 6PM :( So now just have to find the heatsink material, and them time to fabricate, i think im just going to order a couple 12V computer fans from ebay for the push pull cooling.

Almost forgot does anyone know where i can find the wiring diagram for the ribbon cable cause i'm going to get a few LED's for the status display i know its On and thermal and one more i think but not sure maybe ill just turn it on and take a voltage reading if i have to?
