What gives with this 02 Camry radio?

Just got this car. I don't know if it's the speakers, an underpowered stock radio, something's loose, or my ears. When the volume is not turned up very much, the bass is set to +numbers and bass notes are played, the speakers kind of verrrrbbberiiiibbeeraaate. It goes away as you dial down the bass to negative numbers. I asked a coworker to listen...He said "you have a lot of bass there"..he liked it at +1, I keep it at -2. Is this due to the speakers, car acoustics, radio quality,...???

Does anyone know what gives with this radio?

That's what bass does, it shakes. posted_image j/p

actually, when my 02 camry radio was completely stock, I had the bass setting turned up +2 or +3, and nothing really rattled or shook. I could imagine it distoring and rattling if you have it turned up high, but you said you kept the volume low and it still happened?

If all fails, go back to the dealer and listen to another camry's radio to see if it does the same thing.
