when making boxes or capping speakers off in factory locations( with mdf) other then subs......(highs) should any thing be put in the box to help response such as insulation or plastic?

Dacron filler is used in subwoofer applications, it helps take out some of the high freq. I believe. It looks like cotton type stuff but is very itchy if you ever come into contact with it. Try that.

Try to steer away from making your sub enclosure too square or rectangular. You will get resonating frequencies from the box and it will not sound good. Dacron filler is like pink fiberglass insulation and should only be used if you have an enclosure that you made too small. The filler makes the subwoofer think that the enclosure is 20 % larger than it really is smoothing out the sound, hence giving the effect of the removal of the higher frequency. If you put in too much though you get a boomy sound which isn't good either. Test it out with some in the enclosure ( if required ) but if you build the enclosure properly, you won't need any.
