I bought a PAC swi-jack to use in my 03 gmc sierra and I'm having problems with it. I can get it to program to version 1 but when I try to program it to the controls on the steering wheel the red led won't stay lit it keeps flashing. So I called PAC and they said to cut the green wire and re connect the brown one on the box since my truck has on star but that still doesn't work. I had power coming from the ignition harness so I moved it to behind the radio and still won't work. From what I have read you are supposed to turn the key on and them press the button and the led will stay on solid. When I do it the led keeps flashing and I've made several calls to PAC and spend a few hours messing with this thing and just can't figure it out. Any help before I smash this thing with a hammer?

First of all...don't smash it...its pretty pricey...second...are you sure that you plugged into the correct wire underneath the dashboard to program the swi-jack? i believe its a green wire in the bcm...Also...what is the brand of radio you installed? The swi-jack may not be compatible with your radio..unless its the universal..Good luck..i hope i helped.

I am 100% sure it's hooked up to the correct wire. I have an alpine ina-w900 and I haven't even plugged the swi jack into it yet since I can't seem to get past the programming. My friend works for an audio store and he is supposed to be bringing me another one tonight. He said he has installed over 50 of these and never had a problem like I'm having

So I guess no one has ever had this problem before? I feel special then. I guess I'll smash this pile of crap and buy one that works from some one else

I have never heard my installers complain about programming one of these devices.

I figured it would be pretty simple 3 wires heck on pac's website they show a picture of the wire and where it's at so it can't get any easier than that. My buddy brought me another one and it's doing the same thing so I guess I'll call the tech support line a third time and see if we can figure this out

So I went out there in the freezing cold and re soldered the green wire and it finally worked. They were soldered before but who cares it's finally working. I missed programming a few buttons but I'm scared to try it again so it will be good enough.
