Hello all,
I currently have a 2004 Impala with a JBL GTO 1201.1 ii amp, 1-farad Rockford Fosgate cap, and one single Rockford Fosgate 12" HX2 (500w RMS, 4Ohm DVC).
I just purchased the amp and I want to upgrade to two 12" subs. I'm more of a SQ guy than SPL, what would be best for my setup?
Below is a spec sheet for the amplifier.

If quality is important then its hard to beat the predictability and ease of building a sealed enclosure. If I am not building a box that isolates the trunk from the cabin then you need to test for proper placement so you dont get 1/4 wave cancelations. Also if you want to run 12's then you need some decent midbass up front. that will help to bring the perception of sound up front more.SO I gues pick subs that fit your budget and space limitations if any, and also performs well in the space you intend to give it.

I guess I should post what I have so far.
HU: kdc-x794
Frontdoor: Alpine type S 6-3/8" (HP at 50hz w/ 12db slope)
Dash: stock tweeters
Rear Deck: stock 6x9 (HP at 30hz w/ 16db slope)
Amp: JBL GTO 1201.1 ii (LP at 140hz)
Sub: 12" Fosgate RFD2112 (8Ohm wiring)
Box: Sealed, only one slot filled (supports 2 subs, I don't have a single 12 box..)
The music I typically listen to is either house/downtempo/glitchhop and sometimes dubstep.
The single 12" fosgate is nice but just isn't loud enough for me. I wish I could find another one and just have a pair but they are discontinued and rare in my area.

if you have a box and do not want to change then the subs you use must FIT that box volume. so take measurements and buy accordingly. your crossover frequencies are likely stepping all over each other. this can cause very unpredictable PHASE cancelations and peaks. your subs crossed over that high will telegraph their rear location way too easily. and the fronts are too low with that degree of slope.
