Do inverted subs sound any different?  When inverting subs how much space do you need to leave between the cone and the enclosure?

the amount of distance between wall and cone depends on the sub...I dont think they sound alot different, but have noticed that they dont seem to get as loud when u invert them...

in an all show and no go setup, go for it, but if you want to wow the kids in the lanes, abnadon this process and stick to convention...

Along the lines of inverted subs...
Big Purds, have you had any dealings with a clamshell isobaric configuration? I've never tried it, but the myths are always there (as well as disproving them!). Just trying to increase the knowledge base a little

if your not going to comp and you have nice looking baskets on your subs, go for it. i run mine that way and if you like to show off it really gets people looking. having fun with it is the most important.

When you invert the sub it will not sound as loud because there is less external cone area. As far as minimum depth between the sub and the opposite wall of the enclosure there should be at least the radius of the cone( for a 12 at least 6 inches).

On the isobaric topic, years ago I had an isobaric setup similar to that clamshell design but by subs were both inside the enclosure. Each side was tuned to different frequencies, one high, one low, and it kicked some butt. Drawback to that was if anything happened to one of the subs the box had to be destroyed to get to them so....don't see any isobaric setups anymore, at least not in my area.
