Well I have the AW1505X sub and the A2300HCQ amp and this is now the second sub I have blown. The first one lasted 5 day the second lasted 12 days. When the second on blew the gain was set just under 1/4 and W was just driving down the road and it blew.

Just wondering what you guys thought of this setup and what might be wrong?

Thank in advance.

I have heard this all too often...Audiobahn is made for bling-bling ghetto installs.  Don't expect it to last or be of any quality...if they spent half the money on R & D that they spend chrome-plating crap and marketing it to young and ill-advised kids...

I previously worked for a shop here in Panama City, FL where we were the Authorized dealer for Audiobahn. I can honestly say, they do make good products. They may not spend as much time on their R&D department as some others do, and their "quality" may suffer a little, but I cannot say that their equipment is made for "ghetto" installs, becuase it was actually rare that we had customers come back with blown products, or un-happy customers.

As far as your situation itself, what type of box do you have? Is it sealed or ported? What are the specifications of the box?

I believe that sub is a Dual 2 ohm driver, correct me if I am wrong. How do you have the sub wired? If wired in paralled you have a 1 ohm mono load, at which that amp pushes out 2400W RMS @ 1ohm mono. That sub is only rated to handle 1000W RMS. I would suggest that you have it wired @ 1ohm stereo, where the amp pushes out 1200W RMS.

To let you know though, just because you turn the gain down, doesnt mean that you turn the wattage down. Turning the gain down, changes the amplitude of the signal, not the wattage.

Please advise on box specifications, as well as the wiring you are currently using. Those both could be the reason your sub is blowing

well i can't remember the exact details on the size i wanna say it is 2 cu.ft. sealed. i made it according to the audiobahn reps. i also have it wired parellel at 1 ohm.
which like i said my boss has done before with great success. what do you think.

the thing that sucks the worst is they won't take it back cause it is out of warranty and they are done doing my boss favors!!! needless to say i am very PO'ed

if you talked to an audiobahn rep and they said sealed they are wrong. the box specs for that sub is ported only not sealed. what is the sub output on your headunit set at? im putting 4500watts to 3 aw1208qs and havent blown a sub and i have been running it like that for over 3 months.

Personally ive never used nor heard any audiobahn stuff. Only thing ive heard about the subs is that they have more excursion to them then the wires connected from the cone to spider( i believe thats right) allow for therefore when you push them to their limitis those wires will become disconnected. This came from a pretty reliable source but like i said, never seen nor heard so.

Hey, I am new here, just registered, but I am what you are looking for- An Audiobahn buff.

I am a straight audiobahn fanatic and this is everything u need to know-

One, you got a good amp, it has a clipping indicator on it, something everybody needs.

You need a ported box internal volume of 2.9 cubic ft with 2 4 x 15.25 cylinder ports or with the resulting volume of that for 2 slider ports.

Set the bass boost to 75 Hz.  Set LPF to 100 Hz  Set subsonic filter to 35 Hz(Very important), if u do not have the recommended box, i would prefer you to set the subsonic filter to 50 Hz.

If you turn off the subsonic filter or set it too low, you can catch the speaker on fire or blow it due to neglection.

If you only have 1 AW1505Q ran in parallel, bridging it will NOT give u 2400 w rms @ 1 ohm.

Here is the REAL facts-

parallel at @ 1 ohm per channel is 600 w rms 1200 w peak.

Bridging it drops it down to 1200 w rms 2400 w peak @ 0.5 ohm

This amp IS stable at 0.5 ohm as long as you do not clip it do death.

After you have now set all the settings except for the input sensitivity, see how far your stereo's volume can go first WITHOUT the amp on.

For example lets say it can go to 40.

Turn it up 3\4 of the way in this case would be 30.

Now, keep in mind that u should have the gain, or input sensitivity on the amp all the way down.

Now take your remote bass boost control and run it right next to ya so you can watch for clipping as u turn this up.

Very slowly turn the input sensitivity up until the clipping light begins to stay on thru a whole bass note(which is fractions of a second to 1 full second.)

Once this happens, immediately but VERY VERY slowly turn the gain back just enough to prevent it from clipping like that again.

Now, your bass control on your stereo needs to ALWAYS be as low as possible!

I have an alpine 60x4 mp3 player that goes from 0-35 in volume and bass from -7 to +7.  My bass stays at -5 and volume i play it at 21-24.

Hopefully that helps u out enough
