pioneer stereo wiring problem

Hi, bit of a noob here so excuse me.

The car is a 1997 Mitsubishi Magna Executive and the stereo is a Pioneer DEH-3850MP

OK, so i have isolated all the speaker wires from the car and from the back of the head unit.

Now whats left...
From the car: Black Wire, Blue Wire & Red Wire w/black stripe.
From the stereo: Black Wire, Yellow Wire, Red Wire and a Blue Wire w/white stripe(This is the remote wire AFAIK).

OK, I guess black goes to black (Ground Wire)?

I connecetd the black wire to the black wire from the HU, Blue Wire from the car to the yellow wire from the HU and then the red wire w/black stripe from the car to the red wire on the HU.
I also connected in the Radio Antenna in the socket but no luck.
Ive heard that the radio itself grounds/earths when it is screwed into the bracket on the dash??

I know the radio is perfect because I saw it working when i bought it last week. and I have changed the blown fuses.

Guessing is never a good installation method.   Pick yourself up a digital multi meter and test the wires you have from the vehicle. Set the meter to dc voltage in the 20 volt range and ground(earth) the black probe and test your left over wires. You should be able to find your battery wire(if the fuse is still good). It should read around 12-12.5 volts with the vehicle off. Connect to yellow wire of pioneer.   Then turning the key to accessory you should be able to find your turn on wire. Connect to red wire of pioneer.

Yeah, If it was my own car i wudnt b guessin but its only a mates cheap car. I dont have a multi meter and i wnt b buying one for this job :D I know what wire is the Battery wire from the car and the ACC from the car and I know where these correspond to the pioneer HU wires but Im struggling with the grounding/earth.
There is the black earth wire on the pioneer HU and there IS a black wire coming from the dash which must be the ground, but the HU still wont go on? Does it have to be earthed some other way or off the mounting bracket?

I mean surely if I connect the battery wire and earth/ground it right, it would at least switch on?

Really at a crossroads with this. any help would be really appreciated

@itsyuk sorry, It was just the fuse for the stereo under the bonnet from me not conencting the HU properly
