does the 00' excursion have a factory radio mute lead for hands free cel phone kits? if so, does anyone know what color wire it is, and where to get it at?

Check here and see if it's the same factory headunit. If it is, then I believe you want the wire comming from Connector J3-Pin10 (it's labeled "PTA(Phone)" on the diagram) on the back of the headunit. Sorry I couldn't find the color, but you should be able to match it with the location on the diagram.
