I am just getting back into car audio after a long 12 years off. I was an installer, IASCA judge and a Member of Rockford's Team America in the early years.
I am trying to design my first large scale SPL vehicle. So far I am considering Sixteen (16) 12" 4OHM DVC subs on 2 13000 watt 4OHM High Current competition amps. I wanted to ask someone to double check my math.
(8) - 4 Ohm DVC Subs Wired (series / parallel) = 2 ohm load Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel. Dual 2 ohm load Voice Coils wired in parallel should equal a 4 Ohm MONO load Total.
All suggestions are appreciated. I can't believe how easily you lose it if you don't use it. ;)
Thanks.

I see two ways to reach a 4 ohm load using (8) 4ohm DVC woofers. The calculator above only does up to four woofers, but you can combine two sets of four into a set of eight, and so forth.
Have fun with your build.

You have 8 subs on each amplifier. Each sub is series wired to 8 ohms. Use the parallel calculator to find that 8 X 8 ohm subs will net a 1 ohm impedance. So each of your amps should work with a 1 ohm load.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
