I finally made time to install an amp into my V6 05 GMC Sierra.

I need a hand on getting wire through the engine firewall. Any ideas on what a good path to take on that is? I'm looking for the easiest, cleanest route on pulling wire from the battery to amplifier inside the cab. I have a Single cab pick-up.

I useually go through next to the factory harness, almost always enough room in the rubber grommet.  If you dont have the factory rubber grommet, and have a solid plastic connector. It is easiest to drill a new hole next to the factory passage.

There was a rubber gromet that I went through just left of the steering shaft. I didn't hook it up to the battery but that truck there is a post for Positive connectors and it was easier to connect it there.

I need a little review here its been a while since I messed around with this stuff

200 watt cd deck 10 amp fuse. 1000 watt Kenwood, 2 channel 40 amp fuse. 1 audiobahn sub 350rms, just using an 8ga. wire for now...Maybe if I hook up my other sub I will use a 4 ga. wire + & -.

If i do go that route, should I upgrade my battery and alternator?  I'm using a Walmart Everready Maxx battery & stock alternator.

Since the power wire to the battery is only needed for the amp battery connection, AND the amp only has a 40 amp fuse, 8g should work ok.  It never hurts to upgrade the "BIG 3" but probably not a priority on the system you describe.
