Short version:

03 Navigator with Navigation, Rear DVD entertainment system but no stock reverse camera. CD changer in center console. I want to install an ipod cable and a reverse cam. I'm wondering if there are any DIY guides for this application. I've searched some Ford / Lincoln forums without a lot of success. Any advice would be appreciated.

Long version:

Just completed a double DIN Nav HU install in my Tacoma. Got a lot of great info from some Toyota sites, and even just lurking here. First stereo install in about 2 decades. Proud of the results, but now have been labelled an "expert". Have a friend with a Navigator who wants me to help upgrade. I've been surprised how little detailed info there is. I may be looking in the wrong places but I've not found the sort of DIY stuff I did for my Toyota. I'd love to know if the oem head unit has a video input that would make a camera essentially plug-and-play. (a guy can dream can't he?)

When I use the Crutchfield application guide it tells me none of the ipod connection systems are appropriate. I found one elsewhere that looks a little shady. Hoping there's something more tested out there.

I usually use Pac Audio for ipod integration. However, they don't list a vehicle specific model for an 03 Navigator. They only have a universal FM Mod style listed for that vehicle. Not sure if anyone else makes anything for that vehicle. As far as the camera is concerned. I would try to get a wiring diagram for the factory headunit from a Lincoln dealer. There may be an input of some type that you can use. A question would be, can you play DVD's in the Nav unit with the e-brake on or is DVD playback only available on the rear screen?

This will get me started. I don't live near my friend so don't have easy access to the vehicle all the time. I'll keep researching.

Would love to know of any good Ford/Lincoln forums that might have a DIY install for 03-06. I've googled and come up with some, but the info is pretty sparse.
