But no - I would not solder a cap that isn't designed for it.

I would not try to solder on the terminal, the inside of the terminal is soldered to the lead of the capacitor, you may heat it up too much and that connection may fail. Not that you would ever notice that it had failed.

I see you guys busting my chops but it does keep my lights from dimming so I was gonna solder a ground wire directly to the negative post.Other than a cap what would you suggest?

Its looks just like but I broke a screw down in the ground hole so I want to know if I can solder a wire straight to the terminal

I usually recommend batteries instead of caps, but that's for audio dips rather than lights.
It's just that many get (expensive) caps to make up for underpowered alternators or poor distribution (including battery capacity and placement) which is - as most know - wrong.
Valid cap uses are to protect AGMs from high surge loads or to avoid additional batteries (noting that even a 1.2AH battery will last longer than most caps, and the surface charge on many batteries is larger than most caps).
The above assume the big-3 have been done first of course!
But next to headlights etc to prevent dips isn't too bad (until the cap collapses whereby it has the disadvantage of paralleled batteries).
