ok so this is what ive got i have a 94 cutlass surpeme with 2 boss klash speakers and a power acoustik amp the boss speakers are proabaly around 300 watts rms each and ive got them wired to 2 ohms they are 4 ohm svcs the box is really ghetto lol just wondering how i can make what ive got sound better temporarly they have a really hard time pushing lows and the amp over heats alot idk why that would be prolly cuz its a low end amp idk tho it is 2 ohm stable and puts out 900 watts rms at 2 ohm amp model is crypt 2000 class a/b with only one channel believe me i will never ever buy another power acoustik product every again lol too many issues never had this many problems even out of sony lol just woould like input on how to make my subs sound a lil better any help is appercaited hopefully will be upgrading to the alpine type r 15 or type r 12s havent decided which to go with yet if anyone has a good deal i will be happy to buy them a nice price as i know how they preform

Before anyone else slams you I will. Please write using sentences with punctuation, it makes your problem much easier to understand.
If you are unhappy with your subwoofers your best bet is to go shopping at a local car audio speciality store (not Walmart or Best Buy) and listen to what they have on offer. ------------- Support the12volt.com

1: Boss Audio. Not the greatest drivers, by ANY stretch of the imagination.
2: The PA amplifier would not be my first choice, either, but a rung or two above Boss Audio. SMALL rungs, to be sure, but there ya go.
First of all the box has as much to do with (if not more than) how a speaker system sounds as the driver itself. If your box is "ghetto", rebuild it right. I mean use the manufacturer's recommended volume, seal it's corners and edges, and brace the hell out of it. "A vibrating box is a lossy box." It will throw the tuning off, (meaning it can DRAMATICALLY affect your low-end frequency response - does that sound like a familiar complaint?) as well as reduce the total output of the system, and affect the mechanical power handling of the driver. Even crap drivers like Boss Klash can be made to sound listeneable in a proper enclosure.
Either 1: The amp might be trying to die. Or 2: Is it a stereo amp? If stereo, are you bridging it into 2-ohms? That's a 1-ohm load per channel equivalent, and there's your overheating. If it's a stereo amp, you've got the wrong woofer combination, and you can only bridge it into 8-ohms, or run it stereo at 4-ohms (same load and power, either way)

Ok then so if i built a good box you think they would sound better? The power acoustik amp is 2 ohm stable and it only has one channel but it is an a/b amp. Also if i ran the subs at 8 ohms i would get the same power?? i dont quite understand but it is worth a try so I'll try it out and see where that gets me. As far as my equipment it was all given to me I did not pay for anything if i had I would have bought better quality equipment, I just think that my equipment could preform better than it is at the moment thanks for your advice it is very much appercaited. I can't find any info on the subs i know they are boss klash 12s they say 600 watts on the cone I'm assuming the rms is about 300 each I will be upgrading to some alpine type r's when I can as well as a alpine mrp-1000. I have also noticed a burning smell coming from the trunk but only when the volume is at 35 out of 62 again thank you the help.

So I wired them down to 8 ohms noticed a dramatic power loss, but its proabaly for the best. Since I cant find manufactors specs for my subs what size ported enclouse would you recommend?

the ohm load only needed to be raised if you were running a stereo 2 channel amp with the subs bridged between the two channels. if your amp is a mono amp and it says that it is 2 ohm stable and your speakers are presenting a 2 ohm load to the amp then you should be fine.
if, lets say one or both of your subs were starting to go out, they might cause the ohm load to drop below what your amp is designed to take on a regular basis, so it shuts off to protect itself from permanent damage.
wiring it to 8 ohms will cut your power down by about 75% so if you were actually getting the 900W it says it puts out then by wiring it into 8 ohms you are now getting about 200W.
