So I've searched through old and new topics and I only found one related post about my problem but it wouldn't let me post on the thread anymore so here I am.  Okay...so after about a year, I FINALLY found the correct stereo wiring diagram for my old beater Explorer.  My original problem was that all the wiring diagrams I found previously did not match the color coding of my speaker wires.  FINALLY got that taken care of.  So, I've got a CD player head unit installed.  I'm 99.9% certain that all speaker wires are correctly matched up, my bass, treble, and other presets all stay when I turn the engine off then on, the light on the face is on, etc.  In other words, everything seems to be wired correctly.  Only problem is, there's absolutely NO SOUND coming out of it.  I've checked and re-checked the fuses, all are intact.  I've tried a CD, the tuner goes to stations I know of when in Seek mode, everything.  I've seen no indication that the original stereo was one of the Premiere stereo systems with the factory amp.  I'm at a loss as to what to do next.  All I want is a simple stereo to work.  Please help!

Did you connect the radio's blue/white wire?
If so, what did you connect it to?
In your conquest of finding the wiring diagram did you notice anything about a factory amp turn on wire?

On the back of the new radio, there is a blue wire that has some factory shrink coating on it.  And there are two wires still attached to a factory harness that someone didn't cut (thank a "knowledgeable" friend for that).  Only thing is, none of the wiring diagrams I found correctly match the colors of those wires in the harness.  I do know one is a dash light wire of some sort.  When I accidently touched it to the constant power wire, it lit up the A/C panel even while the ignition was off.  I couldn't tell you right off hand what the colors of those remaining wires are but I could take a camera pic if it would prove helpful.

Most but not all Explorers had a hidden factory amp behind the right rear quarter panel. If you have  not solved this problem yet, the factory amp needs to be turned on.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
