I was wondering if anyone knew if adding a JL Cleansweep would make my factory speakers sound better. It sort of seems like it may make them sound worse by highlighting their crappyness. I assume that it should improve the sound of my sub since right now it's just ran off the speaker wire going to my factory speakers through the trunk. Any ideas or suggestions?

In order to integrate a Cleansweep unit, you would need to add outboard amplification to power the highs. Even then, the OEM speakers probably won't handle it well, and you would be no better off than you are now - only louder and possibly even more distorted.

A better solution would be to spend that money on new speakers instead.

Why would adding a Cleensweep require an amp?

Trying to use a Clean Sweep with factory amps/speakers is an exercise in, well, sillyness, and it defeats the purpose of the clean sweep unit   Also, the output from a Clean Sweep device is a line-level signal and it requires an amp to power the speakers.

Ok, thanks. I was planning on replacing the factory speakers after I got the Cleensweep, but it sounds like maybe I should replace them before.

I didn't realize that the Cleansweep would require an amp for the speakers.

Will replacing my factory speakers help much if they're still being ran off the stock HU?

Would an amp be worth it without the Cleensweep?
