so i recently purchased a jl10w7 and jl500/1 to power it then the very next day a killer deal on a 12w7 and a mtx 7801 and another jl 4 channel came my way so i couldent pass.... my question is would it be stupid to run both subs in the car {separate enclosures and amps} ive seen a lot of guys ask about doing this with the same amp and it seems the answer is always no but if i use 2 amps does this change anything? there just such nice subs i want to use them both lol

its not recommended but it as long as you have enough power to feed the amps and all the right size wire, it wont hurt anything to run both subs on seperate amps. it probably wont sound very good. each box would have to be tuned to the sub the same way as the other so what will happen is that some notes will be clearer or louder from one sub while the other sub might be struggling to make the same note. its just generally not a good idea but if you can deal with how it might sound then go ahead

It's perfectly fine to run an amp to each sub, but it's recommended that the amps be the same as each other.

Can you possibly return the 500/1 and and sell the 7801 and get one large amp for the both of them?
