I was wondering if anybody had ever hard wired an XM Audiovox Xpress tuner, with a standard accessory port power supply. I know I have the correct wire designated as the positive, and ground wires. Yet the unit is not receiving power, even if I reverse the wires. I have a home dock and when plugged in does turn on, so I did eliminate the unit itself going bad. I have a back-up cord and it does work in my truck but really don't want to do cut up too many wires.... Any ideas where to go from here?

Being installed in a 94 Camaro. Already installed is the antenna, and rca to head-unit, just need to solve the power issue... My car no longer has a cigerette/accessory power port, this is my I am hard wiring the power.

The cigarette lighter plug on that device is a 12V to 5V power supply.  You can not cut the wires and wire them to 12Volts.  You must solder wires onto the cigarette lighter plug of the device.  You should file the shiny part off of the tip of the center pin, and also the ground connections.  When soldering onto the center pin, do not overheat it, the spring tension will push the center pin out of the melted housing.

If your unit is not coming on, there is a fuse inside the cigarette lighter plug.

I got it to work I attached pictures to show where the wires were sodded. The Yellow is the positive, the black is the ground/negative. Works with any positive/negative wires.

You eliminated the fuse.  Make sure you fuse the device externally.

Not pictured, is a fuse added to the line between that and the power supply.

In the future, take note you can buy an accessory plug at any auto parts store that you can plug in the XM adapter to and tap those wires into your ground and power source. Basically adding your own cig lighter socket to the car. Obviously fuse it appropriately and wrap it securely in tape or mount it so it can not short out on anything behind the dash. These add a sockets are typically less than $5.
