has anyone had any experience with orion 12" xcl subwoofers. i recently got a pair of these and for the price i couldn't say no. i was wondering what the power rating is on these and how they perform against other brands. i have always thought that orion was a top brand in it's day...

oh, and do you think that pushing them with a DHD 1000 watt amp bridged would be too much for the speakers?

any help would be greatly appreciated

Those are some real old woofers, I have that they are 200 watts rms and that’s about all. You can find out some more info by contacting Orion https://orioncaraudio.com/contacts/default.asp they should answer any questions you may have.

Keep in mind that the 4-channel amp's specs are probably max power=1000 watts, and that is usually based on a 14.4 volt system instead of 12volt. What is the amp make/model and I can try and get you more specs...

It could be an older model. The closest thing DHD has listed to your specs now is the NTX-2009.
It's Maximum Power 1000w
Total Power @ 2 ohms 600w
Total Power @ 4 ohms 320w
Total Power Bridged 500

What that means in the real world...

It's Maximum Power 1000w (based on a 14.4volt system and all the available ampres the Hoover Dam can put out)
Total Power @ 2 ohms 600w (150 x 4 @ 2ohms, again based on a 14.4volt system)
Total Power @ 4 ohms 320w (80 x 4 @ 4ohms, again based on a 14.4volt system)
Total Power Bridged 500 (250 x 2 @ 4ohms, again based on a 14.4volt system)

Manufacturer's are renoun for doing this kind of thing with class AB amps (especially 4+ channels). You really have to know what you're getting to actually get what you want!
