I'm installing a remote start on my 2003 Sierra 1500 HD and I need to "power" or "energize" the second ignition switch. How do I do this? Thanks.

What remote start are you using?
Most DEI product have a pink/white wire that can be programmed as second ignition or second accessory.

Oh sorry..it's a "Avital 4103LXL Remote Start System with Two 4-Button Remote". It does have a Pink/White wire that says it's for that very purpose you stated. However on all diagrams I've read it states that "the second ignition MUST be energized when installing a remote start". If there's a way around it without compromising the system I'm all ears! Thanks.

I don't get the problem, why not power IGN2 with the IGN2 output from the R/S? What are you trying to get around?

Well, if you read the initial post, I don't know how to power it. That's the reason for the post. I was trying to find out HOW to power/energize it.

It's got the PINK/White wire that says it's for the second ignition/accessory. But it says that the second ignition must be ENERGIZED when installing a remote start. I'm just wondering how to energize it, or if that just means you MUST hook the wire up? Is that all it means?

Pink/white from R/S is a + output for 2nd IGN. White wire on car harness needs 12v+ to energize 2nd IGN. Connect the two.

What instructions are saying is that you can't ignore the 2nd IGN wire on the truck, just connect to IGN2 from RS & you'll be good.

2nd ignition must be energized(hooked up) in order to prevent a CEL from coming on and preventing possible damage to transmission.

According to my wiring guide, the WHITE is a positive (+)? So basically I just need to connect these two wires?

PINK/WHITE (+) Programmable output for accessory or ignition to the
WHITE (+) Second ignition?

While looking this up I saw something about connecting it to the 1st Ignitions negative? Wherever that might be? Or should I just add a ground?

There is no 1st IGN negative. Don't add a ground. Dude, you're totally overthinking this, you'll laugh about it later posted_image

. Still it's smart to be cautious & even smarter to test the wires first.

Yes, add the pink/white to the white on the ign harness (don't cut, just add like you did the others).

What's spooking you here is the way the instructions are written:
2nd ignition must be energized [ I.E. - white wire must be connected to pink/white ] in order to prevent a CEL from coming on and preventing possible damage to transmission.
