I installed a pioneer DEH-P5200HD in my friends jeep wrangler and grand Cherokee. The speakers in the grand are only powered by HU while the wrangle sound bar has an amp.

In the wrangler there is a poping noise when playing music off his ipod or flash drive or cd. We have swapped the HU from the grand which doesn't do it in the grand and it does the same poping noise that the other HU did.

I am at a loss. It doesn't pop on the tuner. Could this be a grounding issue with the HU I am confident in the amp's ground.

The Dynamic Range of a tuner sucks. Sounds like the speakers are being overdriven. Does it pop at low volume?

He returned one of the HU'S and got newer different model. No more noise. Guess there was a problem with the RCA outputs on that model.
