I've been reading and reading and reading, and now I want some advice. I have an Alpine Type R 10" DVC 2ohm sub and an older (chrome and black) Rockford Fosgate P300.1 amp (Amplifier Output Details 300 Watt - 2 Ohm - 1 channel(s),
150 Watt - 4 Ohm - 1 channel(s))
I currently have the subwoofer wired up in series, which from my understanding, is showing a 4 ohm load to the amp. The amp is rated at 150 watts RMS @ 4 ohm. So, first question: Am I giving each voice coil 75 watts RMS?
Now, second question. I have read that I can run a DVC sub on one coil. Is this correct? If so, can I run the sub on one voice coil, which puts a 2 ohm load on the amp. In the case that it's a 2 ohm load, it would be 300 watts to one coil.
Suggestions? Do I understand correct? I would love to have 300 watts going to the sub RMS.
Alpine tells me to have a 600 Watt amp hooked up to it

Well, now I feel stupid. I just pulled my sub just to be sure, and I have a DVC 4ohm sub. And it is wired in parallel, so I'm assuming that I'm running a 2 ohm load, which equates to 300 watts RMS to my sub. I could have sworn that I ordered a DVC 2 ohm sub. Thanks for helping me to be sure I understood what I was doing.
