Hey Guys,
Just curious if anyone has come across this yet... Seems to be a common problem, it's a 2006 BMW 6 series and has factory 6 speaker system and amp located in the trunk, the fans are poorly designed this causing the amp to overheat and the stereo cutting out, I want to change the amp out and factory is asking $1600 for a oem replacement. I was thinking about alpine because Ive heard they are compatible with fiber optic cables? Also the oem amp in 5 or 6 channel, anyone have a recommendation on what would be best to replace it with? Or what a good route to go is?
Thanks!

Alpine is a good choice but not compatible with fiber optic. No amp other than your oem will be. BUT for a 2006 6 series you SHOULD have actual wires in to the amp. They are kind of mid way between a low and a high level source but are suitable to use for an alpine that has high level inputs. I.E. actual wire inputs NOT rca.
