Right but the ones I dealt with only have one set of rectifers and they are inside the alts casing .is there any difference to the salts output with a dual set of rectifiers bridged

Apparently the diodes are the major source of failure in HO alternators.

In my experience with normal alternators, the main diodes are not a problem - except for foray with Bosch which blew after jump starting and also just running a flat battery (ie, same effect as "after" a jump start).

If high capacity diodes are difficult or expensive to get with HO alternators, I can see why 2 sets of cheaper or available diodes are used.
Whether they are needed or not is another issue. (What is their replacement cost? Is an easy to replace single-diode set an option? Etc.)

In other words two sets of cheap diodes are better than one.

I did NOT say that.

So is it worth the buy or stick with the regular hi output alts

They're probably the same diodes, just pressed into a second heat-sink, and attatched to the outside of the alternator case.

IF those photos are accurate, then the bridge attached to the outside looks exactly like every internal bridge I've ever seen - my guess is it's just a paralleled set, clamped to the outside. Paralleling a second set of diodes simply reduces the stress that a single set would see, in theory improving the life-span of any given diode.

Depending on how they're clamped to the outside, I can see that the external bridge set looks like it actually interferes with air flow for the internal set, thus offsetting any claimed stress gains.

I can't see any gain, really... A gain in one direction, with a corresponding loss in the other. Not worth it, AFAIAC. The prices do look a little more reasonable than a comparable HO alternator with a single internal bridge, though...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
