How do I test the rem wire? Should it have a constant 12V+ when the HU is powered on? Or does it pulse when switched on or off?

It can differ between radios of different manufacturer, but generally the remote wire goes to 12 volts when the radio is turned ON. Factory decks may work differently. Some GM radios the remote wire turns on as soon as the BCM is awaken. Other GM's use a data wire. Some Fords use a lower voltage to turn the amp on. Without knowing what your radio has, it is impossible to answer your querstion.

Thanx, but I had to use the yellow wire, which I think is for illumination or accesories as that is the only one that switches off with the ignition.
