I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES. I removed the stock stereo. I did not and do not have a harness I cut the wires. I bought a pioneer DEH-14-UB stereo. My issue is...every single instruction manual I find on here and in my car says that there is a solid blue wire as the accessory power. There is no such blue wire on the stock end of the stereo. And the stock has 13 wires where as the new stereo has 7ish. Because the colors are not matching up and I obviously can not tell the function of them. I am lost. I have seen the diagrams...I do not have those colors. I don't have Blue, Violet or Gray on the stock. Please help ASAP. I have tried hooking it up with another car and the new stereo works. I have changed fuses. Tested wires. My old stereo worked. Everything was fine...until I took it apart. 0.o
My info says Blue / YELLOW as accessory power.
In the future use this example as a reason to NOT cut off the factory plug. You could have just tapped into the side of the wiring and left the plug hanging free in the dash. Much easier free way of doing things.
There is likely data wires, illumination and a few other things at the radio plug that will not be needed for an aftermarket radio install. Some have reverse and parking brake leads, as well as door lock control wiring. If everything in the car works with the wiring cut just tape up the unused wires.
DO NOT leave them bare and hanging in the dash!
