it sounds nice for what it was. the subs arent that great but it did hit pretty hard for two 10's on a JL audio 300/2. the box had roughly 1.2 cubic feet of airspace and was stuffed with polyfill. i was barely able to get enough depth for the subs to go in, probably only 1/4 inch extra from the back of the sub to the box. i could have made it bigger but i had a specific set of requirements from the customer that limited how big i could go, such as the console on top of the box limited how tall i could build the box. and he didnt want to block his 12v sockets you see in the last picture so i had to angle the front of the box to bring it down from 12" wide to 8" wide. all in all it was a very tight fit.

why did he put cheap subs in the box?
Posted By: soundnsecurity
Date Posted: September 11, 2012 at 4:55 PM
lots of reasons, one being that not everybody needs super expensive equipment to get what they want. another reason was they fit my airspace needs and they hit pretty hard in a small sealed box.
why do you think those subs are cheap? there is nothing wrong with those subs. true they aren't top of the line but they are better than a lot of stuff out there in the same price range. just curious but what subs would you have put in there?

Hey I have kicker-- but thats not important
Was really curious because when a owner stumbles across pictures of his truck online and after hearing how much he will love the subs that are purchased that in fact he finds out that his kick ass system -" aint All that" by the people that built if- well I imagine It would chap his butt just a little.. especially if he told you guys that he had a set of JL's sitting on the shelf that he could use.. By the way before i left it was making a very very loud popping- very deep and loud- not static but more like a short that goes threw the entire system

Nice one S&S, where's the smiley photo of you standing next to the finished item?
As for the speakers, you sold from stock and the customer was happy, end of.
Someone is always going to play the smart ass person and tell you product B is better.

C3's are Fine! I've used them in Past Projects. Don't over-analyze his comment. I would have called the Tech/Store and addressed my concerns. I'm thinking It would be awkward to go into the store after "posing" as a Random person on-line... Howie was spot-on with his comments. Alot of Variables Involved and SS is the only one that has to rebuild the box.

Start off by saying , Thanks for your service. That aside, "Church it up"... You did pose. LOL. Anyway, what about the Airspace and Height requirements. SS seems like a stand-up guy and answered your posts honestly, not knowing it was the real customer phishing. EVERY company messes up(im not saying SS did), it is in The" making it right" that separates the Men from the Boys. Why else would you go back to his shop if it was not to complain about work or product? I wasnt there and I dont know what was said, just what i have seen here. Past that, Retail is a Different Beast. You have to close the Deal and Stay honest, keeping in mind ALL the Limitations involved with each product/install. I can see how you might be a little sore, but you have good equipment, nice install, and alot of limitations on that job. Over-All i think it was done well. It sounds like it was the Best for that specific job. ------------- M.E.C.P & First-Class

Good to Hear... I'm glad you are having more work done by him! He is very knowledgeable and takes pride in his work(posted his pics for the world to criticize).
I think a couple points(%) on the back-end of the deal should be fine for the compliments, SS... As you have found its hard to find guys like SS. ------------- M.E.C.P & First-Class

ya know, i had a feeling it was you posting those comments because a random person wouldnt just show up and start asking questions about quality. and to be clear i still think those subs are good subs that are on par with any lower model JL without the price mark-up of a huge name brand. if the subs were crappy quality then we would not sell them. crossfire is a lesser known brand that still makes good quality equipment whereas a lot of brands that have already made their name are now just falling back on that name to sell their junk equipment.
if you are mad about posting the pictures then i am sorry but i did make sure that there was nothing identifiable in those pictures, if you want then ill have a mod take them down.
im glad that you are still happy with the work i did because i put a lot of effort into making it everything you asked for.
is the popping sound constant or does it just happen randomly or when you hit a bump? -------------

No bro i am not upset at all.. my buddy found it and says hey dont you have high end focal and this and that in your truck... so i did start to get a little tweaked about it. But over the the days here in the 100 plus dessert sun it became funny.. anyway it sounds like a capacitor discharge. starts low and like a whistle and increases in volume and loudness until it becomes a loud thump - freaked me out when it happened it keeps happening until you turn the deck off - you guys didnt put a capacitor in it did you? I didnt think so so with?

no we did not put a capacitor in the truck. its most likely coming from one of your amps or possibly from some other electric device sending noise through the signal. i know it doesnt help you out right now but whenever you get back ill be more than happy to check it out for you.
