I purchased the above radio last March; in June, I installed it in my project car (1985 Camaro IROC Z). Everything worked fine, radio, all 4 speakers and amp/subs. At that point, I took the battery out and started doing the engine rebuild.

I finally got the engine installed and up and running last week. For the first time today, I tried turning the radio on again...nothing. I can't get it to come on. If you press the disc eject button, you here the "whirling" noise like it's trying to eject a disc. This will happen with the key on or off. I took this to mean that the power to the radio is fine, but I guess this might just be the constant power and not the ignition power.

I removed the face of the radio and used a paperclip to push the reset button. When it gets pressed & then you let up, the same disc eject "whirling" noise happens but the radio still won't turn on.

I checked all of the fuses in the car, none are blown.

I do have a 2-year warranty on the radio, so I can send it out for repair if needed. Before going through all that hassle, I wanted to make sure I'm not missing something. I called the vendor I purchased the radio through, they recommended checking the voltage at the red and yellow wire to make sure they are 12 volts. Other than that, they had nothing to add. I plan on checking this in the next day or two.

Use a volt meter to make sure the radio's red wire has 12 volts on it when the key is in the ACC or ON position.

That was my plan...hopefully, I'll get to that today or tomorrow.

If I'm getting power, is it safe to assume the radio needs repair?
