I'm replacing the head unit on my 1994 Ford Mustang with the Mach 460 system.

I got a new sony head unit and the wiring harness. When I plugged it in, it worked, but the amps did not come on. So I put the old stock stereo in and still no amp (you have to turn it alll the way up to get sound).

I assume I did something to kill the amp. Not sure what to do now. Neither the old nor the new stereo work now.

I checked every fuse under the hood and under the steering wheel with a meter and visually.

Thoughts???

Which wiring harness did you use?

OK, that harness can allow the +12V turn-on signal from your new head unit to reach the OEM amplifier when it only needs a +5V signal, so it is possible you blew the remote on circuit in the amp. Did it pop the first time you turned it on? I don't recall if the amp has a fuse inside it or not... Also, did you disconnect the battery when you installed the system? If not try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to reset the system.
