Hi;

I want to install a Kenwood HU (DNX9980) in my 02 Deville. It has the base stereo...no Bose or amplifiers.

I previously installed this unit in a 95 Buick Park Ave with out a problem. Now I am wondering about the 02 Deville because I am concerned with the theft system not seeing the stock radio.

I read somewhere on a Cadillac forum that I should move the base radio to the trunk to prevent theft/network issues. Is this correct?

What type of module(s) will I need to keep steering wheel controls?

This unit that I want to install has hands-free calling. Is it possible to hook into the "on-star" mic that is already apart of the rear view mirror?

Thanks for any help on this.

GM theft systems do not look for the OEM radio. The way they work is the radio looks for the BCM, if it is not the BCM it is used to, the radio will not work in that car.

Metra GMOS-06 is the harness you will need in order to retain the door chime and retained accessory power. If you are not concerned about these 2 features, you can use a Metra 70-2001

Thanks for your help. Are you sure the GM0S-06 will work for me? I have factory On-Star (In the Mirror), but I dont have Bose or a premium amplifier. I just have the Base Cadillac Stereo.

When ever I look at the specs for what it fits, they all say for a 2002 Deville with a Premium or Bose Sound System.

Thanks again for your help
