Soundstream amp question...

Hey,

Does anyone know for sure if a Soundstream USA204 can run reliably with two of its channels bridged into 2 ohms mono? The manual says it will do 4 ohms bridged and 2 ohms stereo, but I know that some manufacturers are overly cautious about recommending low impedences.

Does anyone know if this will work? I can add fans if it's a heating problem.

If soundstream can say it, it can do it. I have only seen problems with reference amps running 1/4 ohm stereo. they will smoke like your gradnpappy's cigar if you drop em' that low. I have a rubicon lil' wonder 4 channel running 4 ohms per channel stero slamming a CDT high definition component system and raw 6.5 inch drivers for my rear fill and not even getting luke warm, but I had a reference 700s running at 2.66 ohms that I could almost light a cigarette off of and it was stable to 1 ohm mono that was running 3 JL 12 w3's. For any soundstream amp driving a high current load I would suggest a fan that would simulate a tornado, it never hurts. You are on the right track though with soundstream. I would suggest upgrading to a reference amp if you want some really sound and some major spl. Ebay is a good place to find these amps. Have fun my man.

I wouldnt reccommend running any newer SoundStream amp, or any other amp for that matter, at any less than reccommended impedances...the days of over-rating impedance levels are long gone, and if it now says 4 ohm mono stable, it will only be 4 ohm mono stable...

it is not even a cooling issue, you wont be able to cool it the amount you would need to without liquid nitrogen...
