Replaced a factory HU for customer using GMOS06.
Audio drops out randomly, HU does not lose power, just audio, subs keep on playing.
Metra says this generation of Deville has a non compatible amp. Their suggestion was to bypass the amp.
There is no BOSE logo on HU or anywhere else.

Cannot find any info on amp location or wiring colors.
I am assuming the standard GM speaker colors would apply?
Where would the amp be?

Were all of the factory speakers working before? It could also be a speaker grounding out because of a loose or broken wire somewhere.

when it plays, is the audio low volume, meaning does it sound like it should be much louder than it is? could be that you dont need a special plug for audio to play.

factory amp might be sandwiched between the back seat and the trunk.

The only speakers that were not working were the two 6x9s on the rear deck. I did disconnect them before powering everything up.

On second thought I think he also said that the driver door speaker was random, so maybe that could be the problem.

The audio sounds good when it does work all proper levels.

intermittant speakers in a door on a 15 year old car? Semi broken speaker wires at or near the door boot. Grab the harness while the radio is playing and shake and wiggle the harness enough to move the wires inside. They may even break completely when you do this. Any piece of metal bent back and forth long enough WILL break. This or the amp is going bad. Both are possible, and both require running new wires from the head unit to the speakers directly. posted_image

In my shop anything over 10 years old gets NEW wires even if they were working before.
