I have a 2008 GC CRD with the Boston Acoustics sound system. Recently some speakers would cut out, then come back on, then make a buzzing sound, and finally all the speakers just quit.

I thought my external amp just died, so I removed the rear drivers side quarter panel (where the amp is located) and noticed a lot of moisture, especially on the floor - it was soaked. I unplugged the amp and noticed a little water on the plug, but nothing much. I wiped it off with my fingers, plugged it back in, and the speakers came on but with extreme fuzziness. I replaced the amp but still have the same issue.

I also replaced the head unit and it is still not fixed!

Taking it to Jeep in a week but trying to figure it out myself before..help me please!!!

Also keep in mind we have had 2 weeks straight of hard rain...the water may be coincidental and unrelated...

It's possible the amp shorted out and blew all the speakers when it went.

are the pins in the plug corroded? if the pins are corroded then the wire inside could also be corroded a few inches into the wire. corroded wire wont pass electricity very well and makes the wire easy to break just by moving the wire around. but, without a meter to test the speakers this is all just guess work.

SOLVED - Amp got wet, blew 5/6 speakers. Hooked up new ones...all good.

Yep, that's what I was afraid of. Well good job figuring it out, and if I was you I'd move that amplifier to a better location.

Even if you are able to move it higher in the compartment.
