OK fellas, I'm trying my best to do a somewhat decent budget system for my girlfriend in her 99 Dodge Dakota. Its a regular cab truck so I don't have tons of room. Nothing fancy, just something better than stock am/fm only and blown speakers. So far we have an old Pioneer DEH-P400UB Premier deck I got ahold of trading some old junk around. Front door speakers are JVC CS-V628 6.5 2-ways, 30 bux at BB, they are 40W RMS. Rear speakers are Memphis Power Reference 5.25 2-ways, 50W RMS, got an open box deal.   Originally my plan was to use the shallow depth Pioneer subs, but most around here don't seem to think very highly of them, so I searched flea-bay and found Planet Audio items for cheap prices. Please don't scream at me too badly for buying crap, I know its gonna leave a lot to be desired, but it cant be that horrible. SO, my plan is to go with 2 ACR104D 10's. 4 ohm DVC, 1000W RMS. I was going to match them up to their AC4000.1D amp. Supposedly its 4000W Max @ 1 ohm....right HAHA. But by the "numbers" That would give me roughly 2000 RMS @ 1 ohm, which should match the subs well I would think, hoping that they exaggerate their numbers similarly for amps and subs. My biggest question is with the 4 channel. I need to shoot for 40W RMS. Planet Audio's AC1600.4 4 channel is what I was looking at. Advertised at 400x4 MAX @ 2ohms. So roughly 200x4 MAX @ 4 ohms right? So roughly 100x4 RMS @ 4 ohms? Can I consider inflated advertising numbers here and take a chance and use it even though my coaxials are 40W and 50W RMS? Not a huge deal if I light up a pair of $30 speakers, but I'd like to at least try to avoid it...haha. I'd like to go this route because I can get 2 subs and both amps for $300 shipped.

i think that amp is way too much for those speakers you have, but as long as you set the amp properly and filter the bass from the speakers then you might be ok. and if possible i would use those memphis speakers up front and stick those JVC speakers in the back if they will fit. the memphis speakers will probably sound much better so they would be better suited to be up front.

OK thank you. I did think about swapping them. I'll keep my eyes open for something better up front. And maybe think about a less powerful 4 channel.
