There should be a wire back there with constant power from the battery, but if you are really desperate and want it to work. You could always keep the same wire for the switched 12 volt and then run your own power directly to the battery and put that one on the constant, and it will work. It will turn on when you start the car and it will turn off, but not lose the memory. That's my 2 cents but it should work.

What make/model headunit are you installing?

The car's Constant 12v wire for the headunit is Blue/White. This is the main Power wire for the radio and the one that retains the memory.
The car's Switched 12v wire for the headunit is Yellow/Red. This is also know as the Accessory Power wire, and only alows the headunit to turn on when the Key is in the Accessory or Running position.

When you installed the headunit did you use a Metra Harness, or did you cut away the factory plug and splice in the aftermarket radio harness?

Im trying to install a 2001 acura head unit in the car...I spliced the correct wires together but the deck wont work....I also noticed that even when the head unit is unplugged the clock stays dim and resets every time....does this mean something is wrong with the constant????

What exactly do you mean "when the head unit is unplugged"? What exactly are you unplugging?

Just to double check your wiring, here's a link to Honda's Wire Harness Codes/Locations (should match the '01 Acura).

Here's the 92 Civic wire guide as well.

Should be:
Constant: (car) Blue/White - RED / White (headunit)
Switched (Accessory): (car) Yellow/Red - RED / Blue (headunit)
