the wires coming out of this mono radio are one single yellow wire about 15 amp and in a sheath a very light red single wire and a very light green wire both have like a wire mesh (shield?) around them. I guess the yellow would be power. only a single speaker will be used, so is the RED / green for the speaker pos and neg? what do i do with the shield wire, I'm restoring an old 1950's car. thanks for your help

The shield is already broken, you don't have to use it. If you must, you can ground it. It was probably for a connecter with four pins, and the shield grounds the connecter, sort of how a Coax Cable F connecter is grounded with that shield. That's my guess...
