Trying to help my brother out with his wifes vehicle. It is a 2005 Dodge Magnum with factory Bose. The factory head unit took a dump and needs to be replaced. He was thinking a double DIN with all the new features, Bluetooth, hands free etc.

What is the best harness to use ? Is there one that can plug straight into the new aftermarket head unit? He does not plan on adding amplifiers.

Thank you for all the help!

This seems like a nice unit?

I see it can be found for about $320.00.

a dodge with a "Bose" system? are you sure it isnt an infinity system or maybe even Boston acoustics? either way, no, they dont make a plug that would just plug directly into the back of the new radio, all adapters will need to be spliced together with the wire harness that comes with the new radio.

the plug i recommend buying for that car is the PAC C2R-CHY4, its for factory amplified systems but you should confirm which factory audio system came stock in that car because the plug might only work with certain ones and i am pretty confident that car does not have an actual BOSE system.

The only problem with the C2RCHY4 is you will lose the ability to fade front to rear. Metra's CHTO-01 will allow use of the fader.

i thought it was common of both brands to lose the fader but it looks like metra solved this problem. ive just never been a big fan of metras data radio interfaces because of a ton of bad experiences, mostly from gm harness adapters that self destruct when you have to jump start the car. it happened so often that we switched completely to PAC and only use metra/axxess if there is no other choice.
